SCC’s source of product originates in Point Lisas, Trinidad at Methanol Holdings Trinidad Limited’s (MHTL) production facilities. Methanol Holdings (Trinidad) Limited (MHTL) is a private company which was formed in 1999 to consolidate and manage the operations of three methanol companies – TTMC, CMC, and MIV. M5000, the world’s largest methanol plant, was added in 2006.
MHTL is one of the largest methanol producers in the world with a total capacity of over 4 million metric tonnes annually from its five (5) methanol plants located at the Point Lisas Industrial Estate on the island of Trinidad and Tobago. The Point Lisas Industrial Estate has well developed infrastructure including extensive supply and distribution networks for the main raw materials and utilities required for petrochemicals manufacture including, natural gas, water and electricity as well as port facilities. MHTL is the largest supplier of methanol to North America and is also a significant supplier to the European Market.
MHTL is presently diversifying its business operations with the construction of its downstream Ammonia-Urea Ammonium Nitrate-Melamine (AUM) Complex. The complex will produce UAN and Melamine for sale to the Americas and Europe and is expected to begin commercial operations in early 2010.
